Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten at West Elementary
Parent Information Meetings:
Here are both of the powerpoint presentations from our PreK and Kindergarten Parent information meetings.
Teaching and Learning:
Welcome to pre-kindergarten and/or kindergarten at West Elementary (WE)! Our curriculum is developmentally appropriate, emphasizing indoor and outdoor play while focusing on literacy through reading and writing, imaginative play, dramatization, puppetry, and beginning phonics skills. Our students build foundational skills with mathematical concepts, discover the natural world in science and social studies, participate in action-based learning, and practice social skills throughout the day. As an IB Primary Years Programme School, we offer all students opportunities to make global connections while experiencing and learning about big ideas (communities, systems, perspective, etc.) in the context of the required curriculum standards.
