Chinese Initiative
The aim of the Jenks Public Schools Chinese Initiative is to provide education opportunities, promote mutual cultural and language literacy, and build positive relationships among students, staff and all communities.
The goals of the Jenks Public Schools Chinese Program are:
• To educate Jenks students about China and its culture
• To educate the Chinese people about American culture
• To teach Jenks students the Mandarin Chinese language
• To break down stereotypes
• To foster the exchange of educational ideas
• To teach Jenks students adaptability and sensitivity
• To build awareness of career opportunities
Jenks Public Schools has designed and implemented several Chinese Initiative Programs that are open to participation by principals, teachers, and students from both China and Jenks. Some of the educational opportunities currently available are:
• Confucious Institute Exchange – available to U.S. and Chinese principals
• Hanban/College Board – guest teacher program for teachers from China
• Jenks/Chengdu Exchange – available to qualified high school students
• Jenks/Shenyang Exchange – available to qualified middle school students
